Tony Pollard keeps rushing for 1,000 yards and mattering less in fantasy.

Tony Pollard did his job in 2025. He carried 242 times for 1,082 yards, stayed on the field for all 17 games for the second straight year in Tennessee, and even finished stronger than he started — 602 rushing yards over his final eight games.

Fantasy barely noticed. Five total touchdowns and a receiving role that has withered to 33 catches left him at 185.8 PPR points, his fourth straight year of decline: 248.8 with Dallas in 2022, 222.6 in 2023, then 200.7 and 185.8 in two Tennessee seasons. The yards keep coming. The points that make yards matter — touchdowns and catches — keep leaking away.

Ball Ranks prices the trend at 75th overall and RB26, projecting 156.9 points. His ADP of 68.9 is six picks more generous. The difference is a bet on the new coaching staff, and we are taking the other side of it.

A new regime that was not hired to run the ball

The Titans rebuilt their leadership in January: Robert Saleh, the former Jets head coach and 49ers defensive coordinator, took over as head coach, and Brian Daboll — fresh off his Giants tenure — became offensive coordinator. Daboll's calling card is quarterback development, and the quarterback in question is Cam Ward, who threw 540 passes as a rookie.

That is the context for Pollard's volume. Defensive-minded head coaches with pass-first coordinators tend to fund the passing game first, and Ward's arm is the franchise's entire long-term plan. Nobody in Tennessee is building a 280-carry season for a back entering his age-29 year.

Saleh has said the right things — he called Pollard and Tyjae Spears the team's "bell cows" this offseason — but a two-back label is precisely the problem. Spears is the receiving-flavored change of pace, which attacks the exact part of Pollard's game that once made him a PPR asset.

The catches are the whole story

In Dallas, Pollard caught 39 to 55 passes a year. In 2025 he caught 33 for 206 yards and no receiving touchdowns — about two catches a game, on an offense that threw 540 times. When a back's receiving work disappears while his team passes at that volume, it is a coaching verdict, not an accident.

PPR scoring makes the math unforgiving. At two catches a game, Pollard needs either eight-plus touchdowns or another 1,100-yard season just to hold RB2 value. He has managed five and six touchdowns in his two Titans years. Our projection assumes the touchdown total recovers slightly and the catch total does not; both would need to recover to justify his current price.

The honest wrinkle: the late-2025 version was genuinely good

Pollard averaged 12.1 PPR points a game over the season's second half, with 4.9 yards a carry, and he has not missed a game in three seasons. If Daboll uses him the way he once used his Buffalo backs — as a screen-game safety valve for a young quarterback — the receiving revival happens and this projection is too low. Durable backs with locked-in carry shares also tend to outperform their draft cost simply by surviving September.

That is a real path. It requires a first-year staff to feature a 29-year-old inherited back, which is not how first-year staffs usually spend their touches.

The verdict

Pollard at his 68.9 ADP is a fine floor pick and a poor bet. We would let him go there and take him around our rank of 75 — the seventh round — where 1,000 low-value yards is an acceptable outcome instead of a disappointment. If Spears misses time, Pollard becomes an every-down back and beats both numbers; keep that in your back pocket for September.
